Paul Allen Nichols, 71, passed away September 11, 2017, at the Hospice Care unit in Middlesex Hospital. Paul was the son of the late Edward Charles Nichols and Ruth Nilson Nichols. He was born in Middlesex Hospital January 6, 1946, and grew up in Madison, CT. He graduated in 1964 from Daniel Hand High School and attended Mitchell College and Post University where he excelled as an athlete and played soccer in the national tournament for junior colleges. An Army veteran, he served two tours in Vietnam. A diehard Yankee fan, his love of sports...

Paul Allen Nichols, 71, passed away September 11, 2017, at the Hospice Care unit in Middlesex Hospital. Paul was the son of the late Edward Charles Nichols and Ruth Nilson Nichols. He was born in Middlesex Hospital January 6, 1946, and grew up in Madison, CT. He graduated in 1964 from Daniel Hand High School and attended Mitchell College and Post University where he excelled as an athlete and played soccer in the national tournament for junior colleges. An Army veteran, he served two tours in Vietnam. A diehard Yankee fan, his love of sports remained throughout adulthood as he coached Little League baseball in Madison, and was a sportswriter for the Shoreline Times and the Middletown Press from where he retired. He was pre-deceased by his brother Dr. Donald A. Nichols. He leaves his brother Rev. Dr. Kenneth E. Nichols of Middletown and his sister Marcia Nichols Stone of Madison, plus many nieces, nephews and cousins. Visiting hours will be Friday, 5:00 to 8:00 at Swan Funeral Home, Madison. Services will be Saturday at 10:00 A.M., at the First Congregational Church of Madison and interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Killingworth with military honors.
